First quarter 2020 and spring at home.
How to summarize what has been lived in these months? In January 2020 I finished my exhibition at Espacios Media Luna (Pamplona). I needed a long break to recover. The expo in New York in September-October 2019 had been a dream come true, but at a high cost. I was able to do it with the support of many generous people, although I came back very tired. In February I had a big cold and in March my bad streak was accused… so I went to keep the confinement at a brother’s house. There I somewhat recovered my health. At the end of April and after somewhat resuming my habits, I write to you and adorn the watercolors of confinement, but not all of them… I reserve two that I will exhibit with the photographer Alvaro Bonet, at the Casa de Cultura de Burlada in October 2020, if nothing is twist.
I painted “Cloud Dance” on March 25, with a photo of the surroundings of Pamplona, after a short walk. “Cumbres” is something made up.
I started wanting “South” and sun. Last year I had been in Granada, with sciatica and didn’t enjoy it very much, so I was longing for something cheerful.
“Fields of Granada”, “Oaks of Granada”. and “Southern Fields”.
I have painted these and other watercolors in these months of confinement in various improvised studios and with just the right material, but I thank God for being able to and giving me the health to do so.
I greet friends and colleagues from here and I wish them not to stop painting and dreaming of beauty, for themselves and their families.
